Meet Renita from the My Holland Village team!

Hey everyone, I am Renita, and I have been a volunteer guide with My Community for the past one-and-a-half years. Holland Village is a dynamic and vibrant enclave and this inspires me to conduct tours around the area. Many historical landmarks and interesting personalities congregate in this charming cluster of shophouses and there are many stories to be heard from Holland Village’s residents, our tour participants and business owners!

Through these tours, I wish to tell you more about the intangible heritage in my neighbourhood and beyond. I am very happy to bring you on a magical experience in this 24-hour marathon tour with my team of fellow neighbours and friends (be sure to say hello to the other guides Alwyn, Karen, Kim Yen, Lynn, Madeleine, Yin Wah and Yuxin) and share more about this place that we are proud to call home! See you then!

More about Holland Village

Holland Village’s early retail outlets were established to service the British soldiers and their families near the area as a result of the installation of the British military bases at Alexandra and Pasir Panjang in the 1930s and 1940s. With its post-war changing demographics, Holland Village experienced a complete transformation in its facilities and businesses. Today, the physical transformation of Holland Village from a rural village to a bustling yuppie area has made it popular amongst both Singaporeans and foreigners.
