Avani Jain, a dedicated nurse at KK Hospital’s paediatric medicine department, hails from the vibrant state of Madhya Pradesh, India. She follows the Digambara tradition of Jainism, which is known for its strict adherence to religious practices. While the beliefs and values of Jainism remain the same across both the Digambara and Svetambara traditions, Avani will be sharing how she embraces the unique practices of Digambara Jainism with her community.
Dhwani and Pavlesh, Avani’s aunt and uncle, reside in the same condominium, forming a close-knit family unit. The Digambara Jain community lives near one another, fostering strong relationships and a sense of belonging. Together, the community often gathers for temple events and gatherings, emphasising the importance of friendship and togetherness alongside their religious practices. However, their bond extends far beyond religious activities, as they frequently visit each other’s homes, engage in games, and share moments of joy over a cup of tea.
