This is a non-vegetarian, non-Halal dish. Recipe contains seafood and gluten. Participants are reminded to declare their food allergies, if any, in the registration form.

Participants must abide by the house rules set out by the host (eg. out-of-bound areas, use of toilet). Facilitators will brief participants before the start of the programme.

Please arrive 20 minutes before our scheduled meeting time for registration and temperature taking.

Meet Edmond Wong!

Hi everyone, I am Edmond, the third generation of Kim Choo Kueh Chang! As part of this three-generation family business and seven-generation Peranakan family, continuity means everything to me. Amongst my family members, there is an unspoken responsibility to carry on our timeless Peranakan values, practices and heritage. For the business, I also firmly believe that what one generation is unable to solve, the next generation might be able to. As long as we are able to carry on, our story does not end.

The rempah udang is more than an everyday snack to us – an embodiment of our shared heritage and a culmination of the flavours, knowledge and skills passed through our many generations. Like our other kuehs and kueh changs, it is a symbol of continuity that we at Kim Choo hold dear to our hearts.

More about Kim Choo Kueh Chang

Started in 1945 by Edmond Wong’s grandmother Mdm Kim Choo, the three generation business began as a humble stall under a banyan tree along Joo Chiat Place selling Nyonya rice dumplings. Today, apart from their well-loved Nyonya rice dumplings, Kim Choo Kueh Chang offers a wide range of products and services promoting different facets of Peranakan heritage. Currently located at 111 East Coast Road, the two-storey shophouse sells their iconic rice dumplings, Nyonya kuehs, Peranakan houseware and Peranakan clothing items. In 2011, the shophouse was designated as a Singapore Visitor Centre.
