My cooking is inspired by my grandma who was a South Indian trader’s wife and travelled to Singapore in the late 1950s. Her cooking style of using ordinary ingredients to create extraordinarily nutritious and tasty dishes inspires me to be creative with my dishes and explore new flavours. While my cooking techniques have developed over time, taste is something I always try to keep consistent in my food.
Comfort. It is where you can be yourself without being judged, and loved for who you are. At home, memories are created and we welcome people with warm hearts!
I will be cooking South Indian vegetarian cuisine. In India, food is featured in our ceremonies and religious celebrations. If a grain of rice even drops, we will pick it up with respect and say a prayer to the deities. Rice in Tamil is அன்னம் and we always pray to have our kitchen filled with rice and food. Through my cooking, I hope participants will feel welcomed into my South Indian home where simple food not only fills your tummy but your heart too.
