What you’ll do:
Jalan Besar leads an almost Jekyll and Hyde existence – in the day, it is populated by the hip and fashionable, and at night colourful characters and businesses reveal themselves. Walk into the nooks and crannies of the neighbourhood, snake around the back alleys and enter the ‘forbidden’ stairways with Jan and immerse yourself in the stories of this neighbourhood and the various communities that call Jalan Besar home!

Hello everyone, I am Jan! My friends tend to describe me as quirky, fun-loving and curious. I love treading on the offbeat side of life as I navigate between chasing my dream of running a farm homestay and exploring the myriad facets of what it means to be Singaporean.

What is the difference in this place between day and night?
Jalan Besar in the day is PG – for kindergarteners and their care-givers. At night, as colourful businesses and personalities emerge, they attract a different crowd, giving its visitors the horns to complete the end of their day.

oFFbeat Singapore is a quirky, fun-loving and curious tour company offering experiences of the lesser-known sides of Singapore. Founded by Jan Chow, the company hopes that every tour brings participants a new perspective of what it means to be Singaporean and uncover nuggets beyond culture and heritage as they dive deep into the faces behind the places!
Vaccination Requirements
Participants must be fully vaccinated
Attire
Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear covered shoes for walking.
What to bring
- Participants should bring along an umbrella, hand sanitiser, insect repellent, and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) as radio guides will be used for the tour.
- Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.

The nearest carpark from the entrance of PA HQ is at 100 Tyrwhitt Road, Jalan Besar Stadium, Singapore 207542. (Approx. 2 min walk)
