What you’ll do:
Join Vandana on an intimate tour of Singapore’s other Little India as she traces her personal journey of finding her feet in cosmopolitan Singapore! Hear her share about her experiences as a dependent of a work pass holder and how she has adapted to it since arriving in Singapore more than a decade ago. We will also peek into the close-knitted Indian community around Kim Seng, visiting sites such as the church to hear their stories of friendship and camaraderie.

Hello everyone, I am Vandana Sharma, born and brought up in India. I have been living in Singapore with my husband and 2 daughters for the past 10 years. Before I came to Singapore, I studied and worked in the education sector in India. Now, I volunteer with organisations such as SINDA, IC2, RedCross, MiNDs and My Community!
To me, Home is…
a space of safety , trust , warmth, affection, ease and togetherness.
What is your favourite thing about Singapore?
My favourite thing about Singapore is its good governance, which makes it a safe, comfortable, neat and green city. I also love our country’s focus on unity in diversity, which has made this place rich with culture.
Attire
- Participants should be dressed respectfully in smart casual (i.e. collared shirt, long pants, covered shoes). Sleeveless attire, shorts/miniskirts or sandals are strictly not allowed. Participants are also encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for walking.
- Participants will be denied entry if they dress inappropriately.
What to bring
- Participants should bring along an umbrella/poncho, hand sanitiser, insect repellent, and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) because we will be using radio guides for the tour.
- Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.
