Beyond Jollibee’s iconic fried chicken, where else can we find delicious Filipino cuisine in Singapore? Join Ton and Mark who will be taking participants to their restaurants to savour the many other delicious dishes the Philippines has to offer! As we fill our bellies over a hearty meal, hear their experiences of living in Singapore and how they have found a second home in our tropical paradise!

Food is non-halal and not suitable for vegetarians. Food contains lard, eggs and gluten.
Introduce yourself
- Hi! I am Mark Lester Valignota! I was born in Manila, Philippines and I have been residing in Singapore since 2012, working as an Architectural Executive. I love doing corporate social responsibility and I like to keep a positive attitude.
- Hi everyone, my name is Anthony! Singapore has been my second home since 2009. Currently, I work as an IT manager at an international bank. I’m also the community integration manager at the Filipino Association of Singapore.
To me, Home is…
- a safe haven and a comfort zone, surrounded by good people, great friends and supportive family, and a place to build memories. Home is Singapore.
- is where your heart is, hence it’s a feeling — of warmth, kindness, and familiarity, regardless of where you are. You can make any place a home as long as you open the doors and windows of your heart to welcome your brothers, sisters, and neighbours with respect, understanding, and acceptance.
What is your favourite thing about Singapore?
- What I love about Singapore is the multi-racial, religious and cultural society we have. From healthcare and infrastructure, to transport, security and safety, Singapore has helped me reach my full potential and for that I will always be eternally grateful. Maraming salamat Singapura.
- What I like about Singapore is that it is a safe haven for growth. Like a foreign seed, I have been transplanted to a very rich soil where my career flourished and I discovered more about myself. Planted within a very diverse community, I could share about my culture and learn about others too. I do hope that this tree will grow stronger and eventually blossom with fruits that inspire others to experience and embrace such diversity.

- Participants must be fully vaccinated.
Attire
- Participants should be dressed respectfully in smart casual (i.e. collared shirt, long pants, covered shoes). Sleeveless attire, shorts/miniskirts or sandals are strictly not allowed. Participants are also encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for walking.
- Participants will be denied entry if they dress inappropriately.
What to bring
- Participants should bring along an umbrella/poncho, hand sanitiser, insect repellent, and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) because we will be using radio guides for the tour.
- Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.
