Hello everyone! I am Nuriyati and I come from a small village in Surabaya, Indonesia called Selorejo. It’s a beautiful place – very green and lush. My grandmother is an amazing cook, and she taught me everything I know about food. I have two daughters who still live in the village. In 2010, I came to Singapore to support my mother and my two daughters.
like a soto – a dish I will be presenting. To create a soto, you bring different ingredients together to create the dish much like a family coming together. This is what a home is – where we are greater than the sum of our parts.
I will be cooking dishes and recipes that come from my village. This includes soto, begedil and a unique dessert called sawod that can only be found in my hometown.
