Unlike other programmes in this series, Megumi will not be taking you to a Japanese restaurant or supermarket but back in time as she shares her journey of negotiating her Japanese identity and its baggage in Singapore.

Straddle between the past and present on this tour as Megumi takes you to some places in Singapore that mean a lot to her personally! Megumi will be sharing more about her journey reconciling her Japanese identity while living in Singapore as she confronts its historical baggage. Difficult but honest and necessary conversations will arise in this unforgettable experience.

Hello everyone! I am Megumi and I’m from Japan but am a Permanent Resident in Singapore. I have been living in Singapore since 2004 so my life is very localised. In fact, many of my local friends say I am more Singaporean than some other Singaporeans. I can speak Singlish very well too!

What is your favourite thing about Singapore?
I love everything about Singapore: the people, tropical weather, local food, multiculturalism, the abundance of greenery… The list goes on and on. I still remember when someone once asked what my hobby is, I told them my hobby is Singapore. I really love this small country with a big heart.

- Participants should bring along an umbrella/poncho, hand sanitiser, insect repellent, and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) because we will be using radio guides for the tour.
- Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.
