What you’ll do:
Despite its humble outer appearance, the Kampung Lorong Buangkok Surau is a significant place of worship for the local community, with a history dating back to the 1960s! Join Rahim who will be sharing more about Muslim prayers and practices, his grandfather’s involvement with the founding of the surau and the evolution of this surau as a centre for the local community. Heartwarming stories and insights await at MCF2022!

Hello everyone! My name is Abdul Rahim, I was born and raised in Lorong Buangkok village, and part of the committee managing Surau Buangkok.

How does your religion cultivate a sense of community and home?
The surau is a place where we study religion and conduct congregational prayers, led by our community’s ustaz (teacher). Through this, we develop greater silaturrahim (the strengthening of relationships within the community) and reap rewards.
Attire
- Participants should be dressed respectfully in smart casual (i.e. collared shirt, long pants and covered shoes). Sleeveless attire, shorts/miniskirts or sandals are strictly not allowed.
- Participants will be denied entry if they dress inappropriately.
What to bring
- Participants should bring along an umbrella and a bottle of water.
- Participants are also recommended to bring along mosquito repellent.
- Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.
Parking availability
Parking is available at the Multi Storey carpark at Blk 998 Buangkok Crescent (998 Buangkok Crescent, Singapore 530998). (Approx. 5 min walk to entrance of Kampong)
