I was born in modern-day Kazakhstan and grew up in the Soviet Union, spending more than 20 years there. Even though I lived there for a large part of my life, I feel at home in Singapore and am in love with the city. I found my passion for guiding here – Singapore gave me a chance to become a guide, something I never thought I’d have the chance to do. I now identify as a Singaporean. I love this country and its chicken rice, and durian. Unlike my fellow local Singaporeans, I also like the weather here. I belong to 2 worlds and am excited to show you my world through the eyes of a local Russian Singaporean.
Where the fragrance of frangipani lingers on the streets, where humidity soaks the air at midday, where bubble tea is abundant and where my friends are always telling me about this “special just opened new place” we must go and try.
There are many things I love about Singapore. I adore the beautiful sunsets at East Coast. I love the chilli crab found in fancy restaurants and char kway teow in the neighbourhood coffee shop. Cloudy skies and heavy rain in the afternoon keep our air clean. I even love the little things like lizards scurrying about our parks and the stunning views on the second floor, first row of a double-decker bus.
