What you’ll do:
Hung proudly above the main entrance, wooden signboards used to be an ubiquitous feature of Chinese shops! Today, these traditional signboards have become increasingly rare as more modern techniques emerged. Witness Mr Yong and Mr Cheh revive this lost art at MCF2022 where the former will be showcasing his calligraphic virtuosity while the latter demonstrates the careful techniques behind woodboard carving! This session connecting the past to the present is not to be missed this coming August!
About Yong Gallery
Founded in 1985, Yong Gallery is a synergistic artistic space combining the traditional practices of Chinese calligraphy and wood carving. Calligraphy Master Yong Cheong Thye and Wood Carving Master Cheh Kai Hon are the critically-acclaimed artists of the gallery – both of their works have been exhibited locally and internationally. The gallery currently provides bespoke chinese calligraphy, word carving and seal carving services.
