Find out what home looks like for the many foreign workers who work tirelessly to keep Singapore going! Join Biplab, Tipo, Shuvo and Mani as they take participants to visit The Leo Foreign Workers’ Dormitory’s numerous communal facilities where they rest and unwind after a long day of work!
Introduce yourself
Hello everyone, I am Tipo and I am from New Dhaka, Bangladesh. I first came to Singapore in 1997 and have been working at the same construction company for over 20 years.
To me, Home is…
Singapore. Singapore is my first home. I have been here for over 20 years, much longer than I have been in Bangladesh.
What is your favourite thing about your home?
I love that Singapore is a safe and diverse place. Everyone living in The Leo comes from different places but we are able to get along well and live together peacefully. During the height of the pandemic, due to the frequent outbreaks within the foreign worker dormitories, we were looked after really well by volunteers. Everything from food to shower gel was well provided and we had time to bond with each other.
Attire
- Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear covered shoes.
What to bring
- Participants should bring along their physical NRIC, which is mandatory for entry into the premises.
- Participants should also bring along an umbrella and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) as radio guides will be used for the tour.
- Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.
Parking availability
- Parking is unavailable at the event premises. The nearest carpark to the dormitory is at Empire Technocentre (30 Kaki Bukit Rd 3, Singapore 417819). (Approx. 2 min walk)
