This tour brings participants to an inconspicuous shophouse in Little India which houses a communal space for followers of Zoroastrianism, an ancient religion with one of Singapore’s smallest religious communities.
While Zoroastrians may make up one of the smallest religious communities in Singapore, their contributions to Singapore’s progress are significant and they form an important part of our social fabric. Join us on an exclusive tour of the Zoroastrian House and explore the Joyous Flame museum which gives visitors an insight into the religion!
The Zoroastrian House located on Desker Road is where the Zoroastrian community congregates but it is not to be confused with a Fire Temple (an official place of worship). There is no Fire Temple in Singapore and worship is conducted in private settings such as at the House. Contrary to popular belief, Zoroastrians are not fire worshippers and see fire in a more symbolic way as representing God’s light or wisdom. Today, the Zoroastrian community in Singapore is approximately 350 members strong.
Parking is unavailable at event premises. The nearest carpark to Zoroastrian House is at Mustafa Centre (145 Syed Alwi Rd, Singapore 207704) (Approx. 5 min walk)

Unlike other programmes in this series, Megumi will not be taking you to a Japanese restaurant or supermarket but back in time as she shares her journey of negotiating her Japanese identity and its baggage in Singapore.
