May Hui is a passionate volunteer whose work bridges two very different worlds—Singapore’s museums and its prisons. Whether she’s leading a heritage tour or sitting across from an inmate nearing release, May brings with her the same quiet conviction: that stories can heal, educate, and empower.
As a trained docent at the Indian Heritage Centre, Malay Heritage Centre, and Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, May guides visitors through the rich histories of Singapore’s diverse communities. She believes that heritage is not just something to be admired behind glass—but something that should be felt, questioned, and carried forward. Her tours are rich with personal stories, often weaving in the lives of lesser-known figures who shaped Singapore’s cultural fabric, from the kampongs of Joo Chiat to the music of Zubir Said.
Cecilia Lee is a nature and heritage enthusiast. Cecilia loves travelling, hiking and taking photographs of birds. Today she is fully focused on tour guiding and tour leading as her professional path.
In 2023, Cecilia joined My Community as a volunteer, guiding participants through neighbourhoods like Tanjong Pagar. Her tours highlight the area’s rich architectural and cultural history, blending historical facts with contemporary observations that help visitors appreciate how these spaces continue to evolve.
Cecilia’s commitment to heritage work extends beyond My Community. She is also a volunteer guide with the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and a member of Friends of the Museums (FOM), contributing her time to help residents and visitors better understand Singapore’s built environment, art, and history.
Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear covered shoes with good soles
