Catholic Infant Baptism with Friar Michael D’Cruz and Friar Robin Toha from Church of St Mary of the Angels

For the very first time, Friar Michael D’Cruz and Friar Robin Toha will guide us through a “live” infant baptism where we will observe how the child is welcomed into the Christian faith through the blessing of holy water, anointment and prayers.

About Church of St Mary of the Angels

The Church of St Mary of the Angels began as a humble hilltop chapel for the Franciscan Friars, dedicated in 1958 by Archbishop Olçomendy. It became a parish in 1970 and was named after St Mary of the Angels in Assisi — St Francis’ beloved chapel of grace and mercy.

As the Bukit Batok and Bukit Gombak areas developed, the church grew to meet the needs of its expanding community. The 1970s and 80s saw several upgrades, including the addition of a parish office, library, classrooms, and a kindergarten at the St Clare Centre.

With further growth in the 1990s, a major redevelopment followed. The current church building was completed in 2003 and dedicated in 2004 by Archbishop Nicholas Chia.

Today, the church is one of Singapore’s largest parishes, serving over 14,000 parishioners — both locally and abroad through online Masses. Rooted in the Franciscan spirit of simplicity, humility, and service, it remains a vibrant, welcoming spiritual home for the community.
