What you’ll do:
Get your torchlights out and keep your eyes peeled for the many ‘activities’ occurring at night in the Bukit Brown Cemetery! Join long-time Brownie Andrew Lin who will be bringing you to ‘meet’ the many pioneer Singaporeans buried here and introduce you to the myriad forms of graves found in this cemetery. Watch this resting place for the dead spring back to life with Andrew’s animated narration!

Hi, I am Andrew Lin, a Brownie. Despite having visited Bukit Brown Cemetery for well over a decade, I still find the place to be fascinating each time I visit. It is almost like my second home.
To me, Home is…
where we are most relaxed, free and true to ourselves! Bukit Brown is such a place for me.
What is the difference in this place between day and night?
All things that were once familiar become mysterious and forbidding once night falls! Those Malayan horror stories told to us back in the day alongside movie depictions of the Pontianak and the Oily Man become vivid and real in our minds when we enter a place like Bukit Brown at night. Just like the Twilight Zone, the line between reality and imagination starts to blur … but don’t worry, I will be there to snap you out of your reverie!
Vaccination Requirements
Participants must be fully vaccinated.
Attire
- Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear covered shoes for hiking/trekking.
- Wear slippers and uncovered shoes at your own risk – there are an abundance of insects around Bukit Brown Cemetery!
What to bring
- Participants should bring along a poncho, a torchlight, hand sanitiser, insect repellent, and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) as radio guides will be used for the tour.
- Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.
Parking availability
- The nearest carpark from Farrer Road MRT is at 8A Empress Rd, Singapore 261008. (Approx. 5 min walk)
