What you’ll do:
Miss travelling to this popular European destination? Look no further than our little red dot for a sense of Belgium this August! Martine will be taking participants to visit some of the most iconic Belgian brands and names found in Singapore before the group sits for a hearty meal at a Belgian restaurant! As we take a swig of Belgian beer and snack on some fries, Martine will then share the joys and challenges of building a new home in Singapore!

Hello everyone! I am Martine, born and raised in the University town Louvain, home of the famous beer Stella Artois. After my studies, I was hired by an American tour operator to work in Honolulu, Hawaii where I met my other half. We got married and had our first son in Hawaii. Some time in mid 1996, we moved to Singapore and I’ve been in Singapore ever since!
To me, Home is…
Like fitting into a huge jigsaw puzzle as a tiny colourful piece with my own uniqueness. It is where I still can remain myself but feel no different than anyone else.
What is your favourite thing about Singapore?
Singapore is a perfect connecting bridge between East and West… Asia for beginners! I absolutely love its diversity: culinary melting pot, amazing architecture blending old & new, variety of cultures, and religions… all united in this tiny red dot. If I really had to decide, it would be the fact that Singapore is a vibrant city nestled within a huge colourful garden!

- Participants should bring along an umbrella/poncho, hand sanitiser, and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) because we will be using radio guides for the tour.
- Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.
