Chinatown Complex holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the Chinese community in Singapore. As a cultural, social, economic and historical centre, it plays a vital role in preserving Chinese heritage, fostering community ties and showcasing the vibrancy of Chinese culture to both locals and visitors.
MCF2023 has brought together a team of renowned academics, accomplished entrepreneurs, heritage enthusiasts and talented visual artists to delve into various topics about Chinatown that hold deep significance for all of us.
From iconic murals to mouth-watering pastries, join Yip Yew Chong, Koh Keng We, Ana Fong, Victor Yue, Quek Tiong Swee and Elizabeth Chan at the roundtable as we weave together a tapestry of knowledge and appreciation for this iconic neighbourhood.
About My Community
My Community is a non-profit organisation which works to capture and preserve community stories, reconnect people to places and social networks, and deepen heritage appreciation and expression across the country. It also advocates for greater community involvement in cultural management and urban governance. Since its inception in 2010, My Community has spurred the growth and development of a common-man approach to heritage where everyday experiences and Singaporeans are chronicled and celebrated.
Today, My Community is supported by an army of over 1,000 volunteers who work with a nimble team of staff to organise guided tours, exhibitions, festivals and other placemaking programmes in Queenstown, Bukit Merah and Kallang-Whampoa.
