Poolside chats between Yee Min and Vidhya’s husband evolved into kitchen adventures for the Thomson neighbours as they will be bringing you the traditional Keralan parotta (or prata) and Nadan Kohzi, a traditional dry-roasted chicken curry, in MCF2023. With robust, nuanced and rich flavours, these dishes are sure to be a crowd favourite!
Vidhya and Yee Min will treat you to a mouthwatering spread featuring authentic Keralan dishes – with porotha (not to be confused with Singapore’s prata) as the main highlight! During the dinner, you’ll have the opportunity to savour both styles of prata. The layered style, thinner and hailing from Kerala, contrasts with the crispier version found in Singapore. When you take a bite, you’ll notice the distinct differences in technique and taste, adding an exciting element to your dining experience. Also, indulge in the flavours of Nadan Kohzi, a traditional Keralan chicken curry prepared in a unique manner using dry roasted spices that are ground into a fragrant blend. Alongside the curry, relish the exquisite vegetable stew known as Ishtu—a mild and creamy coconut gravy that beautifully complements the main dish. To conclude the feast on a sweet note, delight in a traditional Keralan dessert called Palada Payasam. This milk-based delicacy, enriched with raisins and cashew nuts, offers a delectable finale to the meal. Drawing parallels to the local Singaporean dessert, bobo cha cha, which features sago, you’ll discover how these desserts are connected and influenced by Asian and Southeast Asian flavours.
