James Sim is the second-generation steward of Kee Song. Originally located in Punggol, Kee Song had to relocate its farms to Malaysia due to regulations set by the then Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA). James now oversees the operations in Malaysia and travels there 2-3 times a week to ensure everything runs smoothly. Despite having worked in the office industry, James decided to return to the family business, driven by a passion for making a positive impact on the earth, mankind, and future generations. Kee Song is committed to organic farming practices, prioritising the production of healthy and beneficial protein. James strongly believes in educating everyone on his farming model as long as it contributes to better food for future generations.
Established in 1987, Kee Song began as a small-scale supplier of chickens to wet market vendors, delivering their produce by bicycle. As time went on, the company evolved its operations and expanded its customer base, supplying poultry to hotels and restaurants throughout Singapore. Today, Kee Song Group has grown to become a prominent poultry producer in both Singapore and Malaysia.
With a network of farms and facilities, the company is equipped to meet the rising demands of clients across the region. In addition to poultry rearing, Kee Song also oversees the processing, packaging, and distribution of fresh, chilled and frozen poultry products. Notably, Kee Song has embraced innovative farming techniques, such as incorporating Japanese lactobacillus farming technology into their rearing methods for Sakura Chickens. These chickens are known for their tender and lower-fat meat, a result of Kee Song’s dedication to providing consumers with enhanced health benefits. This commitment to innovation has earned the company the Merit for Innovation Award from the Singapore Institute of Food Science and Technology between 2009 and 2011.
