Indulge in the tantalising flavours of Beef Rendang, a beloved dish from Padang in West Sumatra, Indonesia. As an Indonesian Peranakan, Indah takes great pride in her version of the rendang, and it has become a favourite among her friends. Experience the rich and aromatic blend of spices that perfectly infuse the tender beef, creating a mouthwatering sensation that will transport you to the heart of Indonesia. Additionally, delight in Sharon’s sumptuous dumplings inspired by her living experiences in Shanghai. Drawing on her mother-in-law’s culinary wisdom, she has expertly crafted dumplings that capture the essence of Shanghai cuisine.
Meet Your Host
Indah hails from Pekalongan, Indonesia and has had the privilege of living in several countries, such as Switzerland and the United States, due to her husband’s job. This international experience has exposed her to a wide range of cuisines, allowing her to develop a discerning palate for different flavours. As a home cook living abroad, Indah often found herself longing for the taste of Indonesia and tirelessly searching for local ingredients in foreign supermarkets. Her journey eventually brought her to Singapore in December 2020, where she instantly fell in love with the city’s safety, organisation, and cleanliness.
Sharon’s friendship with Indah began in the United States, where their husbands worked for the same company. As fellow Asians navigating life in a foreign country, they quickly formed a bond, and their friendship continued to grow and thrive over the years. They lived in the same city in the US, allowing them to develop a close relationship within a span of two years. Their connection remained strong, and fate brought them closer together once again when Sharon and their family moved to live next to Indah’s apartment block. Despite their busy lives, the two friends still manage to meet regularly, indulging in drinks together as Sharon’s husband happens to be a wine collector.
Important Details
What to bring?
- Participants should be dressed respectfully in smart casual (i.e. collared shirt, long pants and covered shoes). Sleeveless attire, shorts/miniskirts or sandals are strictly not allowed. Participants will be denied entry if they dress inappropriately.
- Participants should bring along an umbrella and a bottle of water.
- Please ensure that you bring along any personal medication. Asthmatic individuals are reminded to bring their inhaler.
Other important information
- The dishes may contain dairy, nuts, alochol, gluten and other allergens. Food is non vegetarian and not halal certified.
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the event for registration.
- The events will proceed rain or shine.
- Parking is available at Cairnhill Crest Condominium.
- The venue is not wheelchair accessible.
- Photography is allowed at event premises.
