What You'll Do
Get your torchlights out and keep your eyes peeled for the many ‘activities’ occurring at night in the Bukit Brown Cemetery! Join long-time Brownie Andrew Lin who will be bringing you to ‘meet’ the many pioneer Singaporeans buried here and introduce you to the myriad forms of graves found in this cemetery. Watch this resting place for the dead spring back to life with Andrew’s animated narration!
Meet Your Host
Andrew is a Brownie. For Singaporeans who think that Bukit Brown Cemetery is ‘dead’, He wants to change your mind and show you that the cemetery is very much alive, bursting with stories of the past and the present both in the day and at night! Even though he has visited Bukit Brown for over a decade, he still finds the place to be fascinating each time he visits. From bringing previously hidden graves to light to finding pop-up shrines, the place is full of stories and secrets and there is something new to learn every time! If you think you already know Bukit Brown, think again!
Important Details
What to bring?
- Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear covered shoes with good soles grip.
- Participants should bring along an umbrella, hand sanitisers, insect repellent, and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) because we will be using radio guides for the tour!
- Please ensure that you bring along any personal medication. Asthmatic individuals are reminded to bring their inhaler.
What to expect?
- Participants will take a bus to and fro Bukit Brown Cemetery.
- Participants are expected to walk on some hilly terrain when visiting the tombstones and graves.
Other important information
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour for registration
- The tour will proceed rain or shine.
- The nearest carpark from Farrer Road MRT is at 8A Empress Rd, Singapore 261008. (Approx. 5 min walk)
- The venue is not wheelchair accessible.
- Photography is allowed at event premises.
