What’s perching at the horseshoe block at Tiong Bahru? Spot life-sized figures of the neighbourhood’s favourite breakfast and hear stories of love and companionship, and camaraderie in this curator’s tour.
Hear from Li Qi as he shares his Tiong Bahru stories. He will be sharing how he got to know his neighbours at Tiong Bahru, and the ideation process behind the beautiful decorations at Moh Guan Terrace.
Li Qi believes in the importance of documenting and capturing community histories – in particular, the stories of minority and displaced groups in land-scarce Singapore. Growing up surrounded by quaint 1930s Art Deco residences in the heritage-rich estate of Tiong Bahru, he developed a keen interest in community heritage from a young age.
To grow his roots in the industry, Li Qi joined My Community in 2020. As a community organiser, he is hard at work co-curating and developing an engaging line-up of programmes for Singaporeans alongside a diverse group of heritage artisans, advocates and practitioners. He continues to be invested in heritage discussions and keeps abreast of heritage discourse.
