What You'll Do
The Senoko Fishery Port boasts a richer history than meets the eye. Almost 80% of the stall owners and fishmongers there are of Teochew descent, hailing from the now-gone Kangkar village. Come and experience the warmth of Senoko Fishery Port in the cool of the night as we meet this tight knit community and hear their stories of perseverance and change!
Meet Your Host
Richard Kuah is a Singapore tourist guide. He especially loves to explore the offshore islands around the mainland, hence his specialisation in nature and island tours. This festival, he will be taking participants to Senoko Fishery Port after hours to identify some seafood and also get up-close and personal with the port’s Teochew fishing community!
Important Details
What to bring?
- Participants must bring along their NRIC, which is mandatory for entry into the restricted premises. Participants who do not bring their NRIC may be denied entry at the event premises.
- Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear covered shoes with good soles grip.
- Participants should bring along an umbrella, hand sanitisers, insect repellent, and a bottle of water.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) because we will be using radio guides for the tour!
- Please ensure that you bring along any personal medication. Asthmatic individuals are reminded to bring their inhaler.
What to expect
- Participants will take a bus to and fro Senoko Fishery Port.
- Participants will need to exchange their NRIC, Passport or Employment Pass for a pass to enter Senoko Fishery Port.
- Participants may need to walk on wet floor during the tour.
Other important information
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour for registration.
- The tour will proceed rain or shine.
- Parking is available at Sun Plaza (30 Sembawang Drive Singapore 757713) (Approx. 2 min walk to Sembawang MRT).
- The venue is not wheelchair accessible.
- Photography is allowed at event premises.
