A research assignment and their mutual love for Vietnamese cuisine brought Choa Chu Kang neighbours Grace Chew and Y Goh together as they serve you an array of delicious street snacks, including lemongrass chicken wings, xôi đậu phộng (peanut rice) and gỏi cuốn (spring rolls).
During this event, Grace will delight guests with her own twist on traditional Vietnamese dishes. Inspired by her time in Vietnam, she has perfected her recipes for lemongrass chicken wings, pickles, Xoi Dau Phong (peanut rice), and banh flan (eggless blue pea coconut pudding). Y Mei, on the other hand, will be showcasing her Gỏi cuốn, our most well-loved Vietnamese spring rolls! Grace and Y Mei’s share a cooking style which emphasises simplicity and healthiness, making their dishes customisable to individual tastes. Whether you prefer a cosy meal for one or a sharing experience, Grace and Y Mei’s culinary creations promise a memorable dining experience.
Grace is a Hokkien with Peranakan heritage, but her passion lies in Vietnamese food and culture. Having spent several years in Vietnam as a researcher, she developed a deep fascination for the country. Grace is fluent in Vietnamese and has written extensively about Vietnamese culture and linguistics. Today, she continues her work as a researcher and translator while also sharing her love for Vietnamese cuisine on her YouTube channel called Bluepea Channel_Plant:Food:Man.
Y Goh is a close friend of Grace, and they initially met as colleagues for a book project. They both share a strong interest in researching Chinese communities overseas. During the event, they will bring their knowledge to the table, ensuring a special experience for the participants.
